Dean Brookshier, City Administrator

Dean Brookshier - Bailey Studio photoDean Brookshier began his duties as Chillicothe City Administrator on December 11, 2007. He is a 6th generation Livingston County resident with a wide range of experience in government administration. Prior to being hired as City Administrator, Dean was the District Director for U.S. Congressman Sam Graves. In this position he was responsible for 300,000 constituents and he became an expert on the various city governments within the district ranging from the smallest villages to the City of St. Joseph with a population of approximately 75,000. In addition, Dean was responsible for managing the Congressman’s staff and his agenda. 

Dean attended college at Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph and graduated in July of 1988 with a bachelor of science degree in political science and a minor in business. After graduation from college Dean spent 10 years as a self-employed farmer raising cattle near Hale, MO and also was employed from 1990 to 2001 as an agent for Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance.

Dean is very active in community affairs. He is a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a member of the Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lewis and Clark Chapter Sons of the American Bailey-Studio photo of Dean BrookshierRevolution, a member of the Mt. Olive Cemetery Association Board of Directors, a member of the Livingston County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, a member and board member of the Chillicothe Rotary Club, a member of the Leadership Northwest Missouri Board of Directors, and he is co-trustee of Curtis Cemetery.

He was previously a member of the Livingston County Ambulance District Board of Directors, previously Chairman of the Livingston County University of Missouri Extension Council, previously trustee of Grand River Township, as well as various other organizations.

Dean and his wife, Nonie, have called Chillicothe their home for several years. Nonie has a daughter Jamie Thorpe who currently resides in Houston, TX. Jamie is a 2000 graduate of Chillicothe High School.
