Chillicothe Municipal Utilities and its general manager, Steve Svec, have
been honored for distinguished service by the Missouri Public Utility
Alliance. The alliance, consisting of the Missouri Gas Commission, the Missouri
Electric Commission and the Missouri Association of Municipal Utilities,
presented the awards during its annual meeting at the Lake of the Ozarks in
honor of individuals, utilities and communities that have served the
municipal utility industry with honor and distinction. CMU and Svec were nominated by their peers to receive these awards.
CMU received the APPA Electric Utility Safety Award and the Reliable Public
Provider Award. The Safety Award was presented for safe operating practices resulting in
zero worker-hours of exposure.
The Reliable Public Provider Award was presented for leading the way in
providing the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service to their
communities. The award recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate
proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, training, and
system improvement. Criteria within each category are based on sound
business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and
reliable delivery of electricity.
Svec was honored with the
John “Tom” Tinsley Distinguished Service Award.
This award is presented to a member system official who has provided
distinguished serve to the alliance organization for at least 10 years.
