Candidacies for Available City Seats

Four residents declared their candidacies this (Tuesday) morning at City Hall just minutes after the filing period opened. Those filing just after 8 a.m. were Ricky D. Harp (second from left), Democrat, for the 4th Ward councilman seat; incumbent Theresa Gatson Kelly (third from left), Democrat, for the office of city auditor; and incumbent Sherry Parks (right), Democrat for the office of city treasurer. Also filing was Roze Frampton, city clerk (not pictured), who is running for re-election on the Democrat ticket.

- The filing period opened this (Tuesday) morning for city offices up for grabs in the 2007 primary and general elections with several candidates filing just after 8 a.m. at City Hall.
The two-year terms of mayor, councilman at large, and all four council seats expire in April as do those for city auditor, treasurer, clerk, attorney and constable.
By 10:30 a.m., persons had declared their respective candidacies for all but two city offices and a race emerged for 3rd Ward council seat, setting up a primary election.
Roze Frampton, 40, incumbent city clerk, was the first to declare her candidacy. She filed for the city clerk's seat on the Democrat ticket at 8:03 a.m., and is currently finishing her fourth term as city clerk. She resides at 2001 Meadowlane Drive.
Next to file was Theresa Gatson Kelly, 51, incumbent city auditor. She filed for re-election on the Democrat ticket at 8:03 a.m., and is finishing her sixth term in that office. She resides at 203 Calhoun Street in Chillicothe.
Sherry Parks, incumbent city treasurer, 42, filed for re-election at 8:04 a.m., and is currently finishing her third term in that office. She resides at 310 Harvest Drive in Chillicothe.
Ricky D. Harp, 49, of 245 Samuel Street, filed at 8:05 on the Democrat ticket for the 4th Ward city council seat.
