Mapel New Clubhouse Manager
Constitution-Tribune
Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Dave Mapel, who has worked part-time at Green Hills Golf Course since it opened 17 years ago, is the new clubhouse manager. He succeeds Joe Gilliland who resigned those duties in March after six years on the job. Mapel was hired on a recommendation of a golf committee appointed by City Administrator Dean Brookshier, and included Randell Lowrey, chairman of the Green Hills Golf Course Advisory board, and George Laprade, vice chairman of the golf advisory board, during an executive session on Monday evening. The roll call vote to employ Mapel came on a unanimous 5-0 vote by the city council.

Mapel is retiring from the Chillicothe R-2 School District at the end of the current school year and is also resigning his positions as varsity baseball coach and longtime assistant football and offensive coordinator under both Coach Bob Fairchild and Coach Phil Willard.

Mapel will begin his new duties on June 1, at which time Jill Littrell will resume her position as assistant clubhouse manager. Littrell has been serving as interim clubhouse manager since the official resignation of Gilliland. However, Gilliland did remain on staff on a part-time basis.

A total of eight persons applied for the job and the list was trimmed to a final five that were interviewed by the committee.
