Where We Are

Chillicothe is located in Livingston County, Missouri, in the north central part of the state. At the crossroads of U.S. Highways 36 and 65, Chillicothe is a bustling community of 8,968 people. Located just a little over an hour away from Kansas City's restaurants and shopping, we are also only 75 miles from St. Joseph, Missouri, the home of the Pony Express.

Highway 190 takes you north to the Amish community of Jamesport, Missouri, just 25 minutes away. Brookfield and Marceline, Missouri, are our closest neighbors to the east following Highway 36. To our west, is Hamilton, Missouri (the home of J.C. Penney), and Cameron. Follow Highway 65 south to a variety of orchards, civil war battlegrounds, the Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock Lake, and Branson.

The region is primarily an agricultural community steeped in the values and traditions of family farms. However, with high-speed Internet access, award-winning schools, thriving economic development, an active and successful Chamber of Commerce, and as a multiple winner of the Missouri Community Betterment awards, Chillicothe is an outstanding place to not only raise a family but also to enter the job market or start a business.

Our Grand River Area Family YMCA and numerous parks offer families and businesses recreational opportunities, and our numerous businesses offer opportunities for employment and improving job skills.
