Danner Park

Danner Park

Daryl Danner Memorial Park is located on Trenton Road in the northeast part of Chillicothe. It is the largest of the city park facilities with nearly 40 acres. The park is primarily a sports complex; and, since opening in 1995, has gained a reputation as one of the premier sports facilities in North Central Missouri.

Surrounding its three lighted ball fields, including a baseball diamond that meets NCAA regulations, Danner Park also features eight lighted tennis courts, three lighted sand volleyball courts, two lighted basketball courts, and a soccer field.

The facility is very popular with high school athletics, serving as the home field for both the Chillicothe High School and Southwest High School baseball teams; the CHS soccer teams; the CHS girls softball team; and both of the Hornet boys and girls tennis teams. It is the site of several high school district and sectional events in softball and tennis and is the host location for both the Missouri State High School Boys Fastpitch Softball Tournament and two Class 1A and one Class2A Missouri Girls Fastpitch Softball Quarterfinals.

Amateur Softball Association Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournaments bring teams from around Missouri to compete for a state crown. Danner Park also hosts both Babe Ruth and American Legion district baseball tournaments. Danner Park has been the site of state baseball tournaments and a Babe Ruth Midwest Regional Baseball Tournament.

In addition to the sports facilities, the park also features a three-quarter-mile lighted all-weather walking trail, a lighted handicapped-accessible playground, and two lighted pavilions.

Danner Park serves as the home to the Summer Playground Association's youth baseball and softball leagues; regional and state softball and baseball tournaments; and the Grand River Area Family YMCA coach pitch and t-ball leagues.
