Job Description                                 _____Tourism and Welcome Center Associate

 

EXEMPT: Non-Exempt, Part-Time                                              DEPARTMENT: Tourism

SALARY LEVEL: $16 per hour                                                   START DATE:    April, 2024

REPORTS TO: Tourism Director                                   

                                                                                               

SUMMARY:

 

This position provides assistance to the Tourism Director with the focus being on providing outstanding customer service to guests at the welcome center and providing office coverage during open hours. Additionally general office duties, marketing and sales efforts may be assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):

 

  • Be the front line, welcoming presence at The Chillicothe Welcome Center. Greet guests in a courteous, professional, enthusiastic manner. Provide information about Chillicothe
  • Possess basic graphic design skills to help market and promote Chillicothe as a destination
  • Possess digital marketing experience and have a comfort level with a variety of social media
  • Distribute visitor information in person and via mail and email
  • Generate email campaigns, newsletters and reports
  • Comfort with sales skills including in-person, over the phone, email and square point of sale
  • Provide reliable office coverage during open hours in cooperation with other staff
  • Have some flexibility in scheduling outside of regular hours for special community events
  • Represent Chillicothe in a positive manner at various events
  • Work with volunteers on a daily and on-going basis

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Relevant work experience
  • A high school degree or equivalent
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents including guests, customers, co-workers, donors and board members
  • Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google Docs, Canva, Outlook and similar
  • Work independently

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Driver’s License

 

SCHEDULE AND SALARY:

  • 25 hours weekly at $16 per hour
  • Flexible office hours within the open hours of the welcome center - hours are subject to change
  • Pay periods are twice monthly

  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Sit behind a desk for long stretches of time
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds including boxes and tables and chairs
  • Assist at outdoor events in all weather conditions
