Taxiway Slated for Maintenance

January 31, 2013

The taxiway at Chillicothe's municipal airport is slated for maintenance this spring. City Council members approved an agreement with H.W. Lochner as an aviation project consultant for the airport. This is part of the parallel taxiway pavement rehab project and involves pavement maintenance of the asphalt on parallel and connecting taxiways. The project involves grinding out cracks, sealing the cracks, applying a slurry seal, and then re-striping the taxiway and ramp, explained airport manager Bill Kieffer.

The project will be advertised and bids are expected to be accepted in May. It is anticipated that actual work will start in May or June.

The agreement approved Monday was for engineering, design and bidding services. The consultant project cost is $16,400 and will be funded 90 percent by entitlement funds through the Missouri Department of Transportation and 10 percent by the city.
